One of my favorite quotes about springtime is: “Where flowers bloom, so does hope.” – Lady Bird Johnson.
Lady Bird Jonson’s quote reminds me that blossoms sprout and bring with them a refreshing change. This year, my hope is that cultural institutions and resort destinations return to normalcy — with more visitors and shoppers.
Our industry as a whole is similar to springtime — freshness abounds — as makers have new product and retailers are creatively merchandising and marketing. Turn to the Product Gallery on page 56 for a fresh look at souvenirs and gifts that highlight sealife and wildlife! And don’t forget to see some of my favorite finds in the Editor’s Picks on page 54.
Additionally, Zoo Atlanta shares details about its retail footprint and the modifications it has made to its physical stores. Turn to page 58 to learn all about this destination.
Then on page 60 read all about Shedd Aquarium, well-known during 2020 for its viral posts on its adorable penguins, and its successful marketing campaign that worked for not only the destination itself, but also sales in the gift shop to support its mission and efforts.
